Entertaiment is a popular word with a broad range of meanings. The most common form of entertainment is the arts and recreation. Other familiar forms include sports, games, and escapist literature such as novels, plays and poetry. The concept of entertainment has evolved over time to encompass many new forms, but it still relies on familiar themes and structures that have proven durable through a wide variety of media.
Bates and Ferri (2010) define entertainment as consumer activity that is understood objectively, communicates between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure to the viewer, requires an audience, and occurs in a passive form.
