Entertainment often hits on the points that the human brain was evolved to deeply react to in order to understand the world around us. This includes murders, backstabbing and other themes which are a part of our social existence.

According to Bates and Ferri, entertainment can be defined as an activity understood objectively, that encompasses communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires audience and occurs in a passive form.
